Initial Setup

Your phone will automatically begin activation the first time you turn it on. During the initial setup steps, you’ll be guided through connecting your Google account, setting up WiFi, and configuring other settings on your phone. After you’ve completed the initial setup, follow the instructions below to activate your phone.

Activate a Phone on Our Clear Choice Plans

If you’re activating a phone on our Clear Choice plans, follow the steps below after you complete the initial setup.

 

  1. Ensure that your phone is connected to a WiFi network and has cell signal.
  2. Tap  Play Store from the app drawer.
  3. Search for Republic Wireless.
  4. Tap the  Republic Wireless app.
  5. Tap Install.
  6. Once the installation finishes, tap Open.
  7. Wait for the activation screen to appear. This may take up to 30 seconds.
  8. Tap Get Activated Now.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your activation. If you’re a new member, you’ll be able to create a Republic Wireless account during the activation process. If you’re an existing member, you’ll be able to choose whether you’d like to move your current number to your new phone, or if you’d like to add a new number.

 

Please note:

  • During activation, you may be asked to install a new SMS app. This is because only certain SMS apps work with our service. If you receive this message, follow the on-screen steps to download and set the app as your default SMS app.
  • You will also be asked to grant the Republic Wireless app certain permissions. In order for our service to work on your phone, the app needs you to allow it to perform certain actions.

 

 


 

 

Activate a Phone on Our Republic Refund or Republic 1.0 Plans

 

phone-icons-E-G-X.pngThis section applies to Moto E (1st and 2nd Gen.), Moto G (1st and 3rd Gen.), and Moto X (1st and 2nd Gen.) phones only.

 

If you’re activating a phone on our Republic Refund or Republic 1.0 plans, you’ll need to go through two activation processes, Phone Activation and Cell Configuration, following the initial setup. Follow the instructions below for each process.

 

Phone Activation

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your activation. If you’re a new member, you’ll be able to create a Republic Wireless account during the activation process. If you’re an existing member, you’ll be able to choose whether you’d like to move your current number to your new phone or if you’d like to add a new number.

 

Cell Configuration

Once you’ve completed the Phone Activation, you’ll receive a notification that cell configuration is required. If you don’t see this notification, restart your phone and the notification should appear. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the configuration.
