All phones on our Clear Choice plans can tether. Phones on our older Republic Refund Plans™ can also tether as long as the phone is running Android Lollipop (5.0) or higher and has version 2.1 or higher of the Republic Wireless app installed. Follow the instructions below for each type of tethering.

 

Please note: The icons you see on your phone may vary slightly from the ones in the following instructions.

 

 

Make Your Phone a Portable Wifi Hotspot

 

Portable WiFi hotspot allows other WiFi enabled devices to use your cell phone for Internet access and will use your cell data.

 

  1. Tap  Settings form the app drawer.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  4. Tap Set up Wi-Fi hotspot.
  5. Give your hotspot a Name and Password, then tap SAVE.
  6. Tap the toggle next to Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to enable your hotspot.

 

 

 

USB Tethering

 

USB tethering gives you the ability to connect your phone to a device with a USB cable. Once connected, your other device will be able to use your phone's cell data connection.

 

Tip: Apple computers require a driver in order for USB tethering to work. Please visit Apple's website for more info.

 

  1. Tap  Settings form the app drawer.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  4. Tap the toggle next to USB tethering to enable it.
  5. Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable.

 

 

 

Bluetooth Tethering

 

Bluetooth tethering allows your phone to provide access to the Internet for any Bluetooth enabled device.

 

  1. Tap  Settings form the app drawer.
  2. Tap More.
  3. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
  4. Tap the toggle next to Bluetooth tethering to enable it.
  5. You’re now able to tether via Bluetooth and connect to a paired Bluetooth device.
