As many others will agree with, the regular updates are welcome, even when they don't shatter the ground beneath everyone's feet. *Yawn*ing won't encourage RW to continue with weekly updates that so many members have requested for so long.

I knew my farts were bad if I ate bell pepper and onions; but I didn't known my yawn would affect a corporations policies.
Yes I do appreciate updates but was just disappointed in the content or lack of it in this one.

They did what they said they would. We would all like to have the information that we are personally interested in, but they said they would update us once a week and they did.

I am a Wave E'er. We received our phones earlier this week and I could not be happier! They look good, they work fine (both wifi and Sprint) and the call quality is good. Now, I just got to learn all those new functions (this is my first "smart phone").
I'm a Wave E'r! Got the invite on 9/6 and have had my Defy XT since 9/7 So far, I'm absolutely loving being a part of the republic! Wish we had total integration with Google Voice & Sprint.. but I use my phone for phone calls so little that it hasn't been that much of an issue.
I travel alot for business and the wifi dropped audio problem is very noticeable in many hotels and locations. I don't know if this is relative, but when I get audio drop on Republic, Groove IP still works great to my GV. Keeping my fingers crossed that you find the fix. Other than that, I'm enjoying being a member of this Republic!
It was on a hotel WiFi that I first observed the problem also. Good to hear it wasn't just me.
So the "testing" that's continuing for the A wave members; is that just testing of the upgrade process itself? or are there phone issues?
I know you can't give us exact dates on the WiFi call issue and the Wave A upgrade, but it would be nice to set expectations to be given a timeframe. I know the Wave A upgrade timeframe has come and gone without a new timeframe. It's ok that schedules slip, but please don't leave us hanging with, "it'll happen when it happens." Let us know that you are now expecting it by ____. (And don't be afraid to use Scotty's rule, see Estimates - Wikiquote)

I like this tradition of weekly updates. I am sure it saves a lot of people some frustration.
I don't know when my wave will become active, and I'm not "anxiously" awaiting, but I have a question. If my wave includes Valentine's Day, will we get chocolate with the phone?
Like to get the updates, no matter how small I was on Wave C and after some kinks/bumps n bruises, phone W-Fi to Cell working great! Love it and glad to be apart of the process...

Wave A members do have plenty of questions to ask, including the possibility of providing rooted Defy. You may not answering them all, but this is an easy question and you may have answer in hand. Do Wave A members get the choice to purchase two Defy phones when they upgrade like other Wave members got?
RW staff have stated that Wave A members will be able to upgrade from the Optimus to the Defy, as well as purchase one additional phone. The discount we have been offered will only apply to one phone.

As for your question about republic wireless providing the DEFY XT rooted, that has been answered as well, if I'm understanding your question. Will the Defy XT be shipped rooted?

hello, i am a wave A and received an email on 7/31 about the upgarde (it said we will be getting an email in few weeks). i did not get anything for RW till now and really want the DEFY XT phone. what can i do????
All you can do is wait. The upgrade information has not been sent out to the Optimus owners yet.
I really like the weekly updates since I am an A waver waiting to upgrade and add another phone, I assumed they would be weekly since the last one said see you next week?? None this week?
It wouldn't surprise me if they are revamping the weekly update to include the Roaming Update info.
I was hoping that we might get an update giving more info on the upgrade and since one waved closed and I did not see another open I was again "hoping" that might mean they will use the next two weeks for upgrades since I would guess they will require more of their time that the new waves,
Since the Defy XT has less coverage than the Optimus S, Republic Wireless has to get their "ducks in a row" before offering the upgrade. The coverage map for the Defy is a critical component for the Wave A users determining if they want to upgrade.
We would be lucky to get an update today. The "Weekly" updates started 09/06 then a week and a day later the next issue was posted on 09/14, so giving that the "Weekly" updates occur every 8 days instead of every 7 we may not get an Issue 3 until tomorrow.
You may be right. I never expected one today. I am hoping for a detailed explanation on Monday of the roving problem, what they are going to do about it, address the current Defy users for replacement phones and how it will impact the future wave releases. They will have had the weekend to make plans and Brian should pony up and address the issues and plans for us. A projected schedule would also be nice but doubtful we would get it. Actually, this problem is not unexpected. It was bound to happen and I project that there will be another biggie or two before New Years. With each delay and new problem, the schedule for the waves recedes and Republic's chances for success diminish.
Yeah, I am in Wave F and I was on the site on launch day last year but couldn't get in to purchase for Wave A. Figures that something like this would happen just as they were getting to my wave. I really don't mind not being able to roam in some areas, my main concern was cell service when visiting family in rural areas but they all have wifi so if I didn't have service then getting calls and email wouldn't be a problem. I do understand the POV of Republic Wireless though, I know that they are working diligently to get this service tweaked to perfection but small oversights can cause big problems when it comes to delivering what you advertise. I just hope that they can resolve it soon, maybe they should see about exchanging the devices with Motorola for the version of the Defy that is needed, I'm sure it wouldn't be much of a price difference if Motorola would work with them to do so.
